George Guy Davidson

George Guy Davidson, age 90, of Kanawha Head, died Monday, April 24, 2023, at his home. 

He was born on July 4, 1932, at Hacker Lick in Webster County, WV, a son of the late Ola Jackson and Eliza Gaye Beverage Davidson. On March 9, 1956, he was united in marriage to Anna Gray Carpenter Davidson who preceded him in death on March 14, 2011.

He is survived by two sons: George G. Davidson, Jr. and Jack W. Davidson and wife Debora, both of Kanawha Head; one daughter Jill K. and husband Russell Phillips of Kanawha Head; four grandchildren: Jesse Davidson, Samantha and husband Mark Gainer, Nichole and husband Larry Freeman, and Andrew Phillips; eight great grandchildren:  Aiden, Ava, Dylan, and Elizabeth Phillips, Brantley and Anna Gainer, and Tyler and Megan Freeman.

After serving two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Guy spent 12 years working with the WV Division of Highways. In 1962, on his 30th birthday, Guy sawed his first log at Davidson Lumber Company, where he worked for the next 50 years, sawing his last log on his 80th birthday. He was a hard worker and instilled those same values in his family.

The family will receive friends at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 4-7:00 PM. The funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the funeral chapel, with Pastor David Jessie officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Cave Cemetery.
