WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital to hold West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy in July

BUCKHANNON, WV – WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is holding a West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy for rising 11th and 12th graders, including those in home schooling.  Two sessions, covering the same material, will be offered to accommodate a larger number of students, and applicants can choose either the July 15-17 or July 29-31 session.

Students will join nurses and other healthcare professionals for three full days to get a firsthand, behind-the-scenes look at the multi-faceted world of nursing. They will rotate through different areas of WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital in order to explore nursing careers in various departments. They will also receive lessons in CPR, vital signs, basic first aid, interview and resumé skills, care of the newborn, and more.  Lunch, snacks, and scrubs will be provided.
