George Edward Hamlin

George Edward Hamlin, 81, of Buckhannon, was called Home to the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, after an extended stay at Holbrook Healthcare Center.

He was born in Buckhannon on July 11, 1939, a son of the late Elmer and Virginia Arbor Hamlin. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Hamlin.

Forever cherishing their memories of George are two children: Danny Hamlin and wife, Pamela, of Buckhannon, and Cynthia Hardy and husband, Jeff, of Culpepper, Va.; six grandchildren: Danny Hamlin Jr. and wife, Amanda, of Weston, Jesse Hamlin of Buckhannon, Brittany Currence and husband, Mike, of Sago, Janetta Hines and husband, Marcus, of Buckhannon, Benjamin Hamlin of Buckhannon, and Justin Hardy and wife, Nicole, of Culpepper, Va.; twelve grandchildren; one sister, Betty Retema of California; and many nieces and nephews.

George attended Upshur County schools and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church. He spent 22 years as a construction foreman for Herbert Brothers. In his spare time, George enjoyed hunting, archery, playing golf, and gunstock carving. Anyone who truly knew George knew he had a passion for hunting big game animals.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required indoors. Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from noon-1 p.m. on, January 23, 2021. Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Reger Chapel Cemetery in Buckhannon with Pastor Scott Owens officiating with interment to follow.
