Gallery update: Hurst scores late to lift Bucs over Philip Barbour

The Buckhannon-Upshur High School boys soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 1-0 win over Philip Barbour on Tuesday.

Ryan Hurst scored the game’s only goal late in the second half.

“It has been a full week since our last game, plus coming off of homecoming week and extra days off, I think it threw us off our rhythm a little bit, and with a team that pressures as much as they do we can’t afford to come off slow,” head coach Mike Donato said after the game. “They’re fast and athletic up top, so a lot of credit to our back line, especially Sam [Squires] and Haven [Tyson]. Lane [Tenney]’s play really helped amp things up as well, particularly in the second half.”

The Bucs return to action Thursday when they host Bridgeport. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
