CHARLESTON – The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan is hosting 13 free tire collection events around the state in October and November.
One of those will take place in Upshur County on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. across from the City of Buckhannon’s Recycling Center at 395 Mud Lick road.
Individuals can dispose of up to 10 tires per person. The tires must be off the rims and only car and light truck tires will be accepted. The WVDEP requests that individuals stay in their vehicles when dropping off tires.
One nearby county, Tucker County, offers ongoing tire collection events on the first Thursday of each month from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tucker County Landfill.
The tire collection event calendar and updates can be found on the WVDEP website.
