Freddie W. Smith, 83, of the Evergreen Road, French Creek, died Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1936, in Nicholas County, W.Va., a son of the late Roy Columbus and Media Mae Koon Smith. On Oct. 24, 1958, he was united in marriage to his wife of 60 years, Mary K. Potts Smith, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter Phyllis J. and husband Michael Neuharth of French Creek; one son Ernest J. Smith and wife Donna of French Creek; two grandsons: Greg Neuharth and Freddrick Smith; and four granddaughters: Katelyn, Ashley, Brittany, and Rachael.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters: Caroline J. Bachmann and Hazel A. Perry.
Freddie loved tractors and lawnmowers, and spent countless hours tending his lawn.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 5, 2019, from 5-8 p.m., at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 1 p.m., at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Nancy Killingsworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Laurel Fork Cemetery.
