Fayette Co. lake closed while high voltage power line is replaced

PAX, W.Va. — Plum Orchard Lake in Fayette County will be closed to fishing and boating April 2-3, 2019, while American Electric Power replaces a high-voltage transmission line that crosses the lake.

According to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, the lake will reopen for recreational use on April 4.

The work will involve dropping the old power line to the ground, removing it and installing a new replacement line. During this process, the power line will be on or below the water from the banks on both sides of the lake.

American Electric Power will conduct traffic control on the roads running adjacent to the lake during the repair.
