KERENS – Racing fans of all ages had the opportunity to gather on the track at Elkins Raceway Saturday evening to collect as much candy as possible during the Kids Candy Rush segment.

During regular intermission, track staff dumped thousands of pieces of candy on the front stretch of the track to celebrate families who have a love for racing at a local track like Elkins Raceway.

Excitement grew as one local racing fan, Declan Carpenter, raised his very own green flag to begin the kids’ candy collection. Youngsters and their loved ones found themselves filling their bags quickly with their favorite sweet treats to share during the remainder of the evening.

As the regular racing season is well underway at Elkins Raceway, races continue to heat up and the competition continues to be fierce. As the green flag fell, the upcoming checkered flag was all that mattered then.

Saturday’s feature race winners were as follows:

  • Super Lates – Jason Covert
  • Crates – Kyle Lukon
  • Modifieds – Mitch Thomas
  • Street Stock – Kevin Keene
  • Hot Mods – Thomas Sigler

Gather the kiddos and come on out to Elkins Raceway this Saturday, June 25 for another evening of Thunder in the Mountains for the Elkins Raceway Wall of Legends Ceremony and Skidmore Memorial race. A whopping $3,000 will be awarded to the super late model winner alongside an increased payout for all other classes.

Fans are encouraged to bring their cameras as fireworks will illuminate the sky during this event. (However, the track schedule is subject to change).

Below is the full list of race results and a handful of photos from the event on June 18. See our full photo gallery with over 150 high-resolution photos from Saturday’s races here.
