LUCAS, the WVU Cancer Institute’s mobile lung cancer screening unit, offers low-dose CT (LDCT) lung cancer screenings on board the unit.
Screenings are billed to private insurance, Medicaid or Medicare. Uninsured West Virginians who meet the screening criteria can be screened through grant funding and donations. A physician’s order and prior authorization from insurance are required, and appointments must be made at least 14 days before the visit to allow time for insurance pre-authorization.
LUCAS builds on the WVU Cancer Institute’s Bonnie’s Bus mammography program and travels the state with a focus on rural areas with limited access to lung cancer screening. More information is at WVUCancer.org/LUCAS.
