The pie contest returns to the 2026 Jackson’s Mill Jubilee on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 5, in the EEC Building at Jackson’s Mill.
Pies are accepted only between 2 and 3 p.m. — none will be taken before or after — and judging begins at 3 p.m. Awards are tentatively set for between 4 and 4:30 p.m., with the awards ceremony open to contestants and visitors from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Ribbons and cash prizes go to winners in each division and to Best of Show.
Contestants enter at the Historical Gate and park there; a golf cart is called to carry them to the EEC Building. Pie makers get free admission.
There are three divisions: adult single crust, adult double crust and youth (under 18), single or double crust. Fillings must use a West Virginia product — fruit, nut or vegetable — as the main ingredient and must be made from fresh, home-preserved or home-frozen ingredients. Crusts must be home prepared. Custard pies and pies needing constant refrigeration are not accepted because the site has no refrigeration. Each pie must be submitted with a copy of the crust and filling recipe, and a contestant may enter up to two pies per category.
