The Holly River Festival fills Labor Day weekend at Holly River State Park in Hacker Valley with craft vendors, food concessions, live music, a car show, a quilt show, a 5K, a photo contest, cake walks, dime toss, games for all ages and the park’s one-room school museum.
Saturday, September 5
- Craft vendors open at 10 a.m.
- Apple butter stirring until ready
- Quilt show, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Bingo, 11 a.m. to noon
- Car show, noon to 3 p.m., registration begins at 10 a.m.
- Craft auction at noon
- Sand art at 2 p.m.
- Corn hole at 2:30 p.m.
- Dime toss, kids’ activities and cake walks as announced
- Live music by System Buckers, 12:45 to 3:45 p.m. A lawn chair is recommended.
Sunday, September 6
- Craft vendors open at 10 a.m.
- Holly River Hustle 5K run and walk, registration 7:45 to 8:45 a.m., race at 9 a.m., awards follow
- Quilt show, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Bingo, noon to 1 p.m.
- Corn hole at 2:30 p.m.
- Sand art at 3 p.m.
- Dime toss, kids’ activities and cake walks as announced
- Bluegrass by the Silas Powell Bluegrass Band, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. A lawn chair is recommended.
The car show is open to all makes and models, with a $10 dash plaque fee, registration from 10 a.m. to noon and judging through the afternoon. There are trophies for the top 10, an overall park superintendent’s pick and a people’s choice, plus entertainment, concessions, prize drawings and a 50/50.
