Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center offers Dealing with Dementia, a free workshop for people caring for family members with dementia, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the hospital’s Education Office in Elkins.
The workshop was developed by the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving and is offered through the hospital’s Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) program. Participants learn about dementia, ways to manage dementia-related behaviors and how to build stress management and self-care into daily life. Each participant receives a copy of the Dealing with Dementia guide, more than 300 pages of information and solutions to everyday caregiving challenges.
The workshop is free and open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required by Oct. 19. To register, call 304-704-9065.
