The Appalachian Mutual Aid Collective serves its October community free meal at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at First Presbyterian Church of Buckhannon, 13 S. Locust St. The menu is chicken pot pie, green beans and fresh fruit. The meals “are open to everyone,” according to the collective’s Facebook post.
The group is also asking for ingredients and volunteers. Donations can be dropped off at the church at 10 a.m. that Saturday. The list: four 40-ounce boxes of all-purpose baking mix, 2 gallons of whole milk, 10 12-ounce bags of frozen peas and carrots, four jars of roasted chicken Better Than Bouillon, four bunches of celery, two 3-pound bags of yellow or white onions, 20 pounds of potatoes and 150 pieces of whole fresh fruit such as apples, clementines, plums or pears.
Donors are asked to comment on the collective’s Facebook post with what they are bringing so the list can be kept current. Volunteers can sign up at tinyurl.com/n3kn835m.
