Folklorist Gerald “Gerry” Milnes talks about his book “The American Log Cabin: Folk Architecture and Lore on the Old Frontier in West Virginia” at the Upshur County Public Library. The talk is free.
Milnes won a 2026 National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship, the highest award for folklorists in the nation. He is a musician, filmmaker and author whose books include “Signs, Cures and Witchery,” “Play of a Fiddle” and “Granny Will Your Dog Bite.” He helped establish the West Virginia Folklife Program and lives in Elkins.
