The Barbour County 4-H Equestrian Team hosts a youth and open horse show Sunday, August 30, at the Barbour County Fairgrounds as part of the Barbour County Fair.
Registration runs from 9 to 11 a.m., a church service is held at 9 a.m. in the covered arena, and classes start at 1 p.m. All breeds are welcome.
The class list covers showmanship, English and Western pleasure, equitation, horsemanship, trail, pole bending, barrels, egg and spoon and stick horse, with ribbons for first through third place. Open classes cost $5 per entry, cash or check only. Stalls are available at $30 for the week for open exhibitors.
Adrianna Dunbar will judge, and the judge’s decision is final. A negative Coggins test is required. No stallions are permitted, helmets are required for any rider under 18, and all 4-H members must wear a helmet. A high point award is offered for select classes; entrants must sign up before the show starts, and there is a $1 high point entry fee per person.
