Evans promoted to Assistant in Athletic External Relations at D&E

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Athletic Department and Director of Athletics Jamie Joss have announced the promotion of Jay Evans to Assistant in Athletic External Relations, effective immediately.

Evans, who is already on staff as the Head Coach for the Women’s and Men’s Tennis programs, will take over the day-to-day operations of the external relations office, vacated role by current Assistant AD for External Relations Benjamin Dishong, who has resigned, effective January 13.

“We are excited to have Jay take on this additional role within our athletic program and to assist with our external relations responsibilities along with a proficient student staff that Benjamin Dishong has trained over the past three years,” Joss said. “In addition to his tennis expertise, Jay brings professional corporate experience in social media and communications and is looking forward to apply that knowledge to Senator Nation.”

Aside from his duties as the Head Coach of the Tennis programs at D&E and other head coaching roles, Evans has also worked extensively in the field of marketing and communications.

He served as the Social Media Specialist for the Tampa, Florida based company InSync Healthcare Solutions from 2015-2016.

While attending Piedmont College, Evans served as a communications intern for Initials, Inc., was a staff writer for the school’s newspaper The Navigator, and hosted a radio show on WRFP, the student radio station for Piedmont.

He also served as the coeditor of the Knight Writer newspaper during his time in high school.

“We are very appreciative of what Ben has done for Senator Nation Athletics over the past three years,” Joss said. “He became only the second full-time athletic communications specialist in D&E history, and he has definitely taken athletic communications to a completely different level than ever before. I wish Ben and his family nothing but the best as he charts the next course professionally. We will all miss Ben and what he has provided to raising the exposure of Davis & Elkins Athletics across social media, live video streaming and website coverage, as well as critical historical research and records development of Senator Nation athletics, which is critical in covering our athletic program.”

Evans graduated with a pair of Bachelor’s Degrees in Mass Communication and History from Piedmont College in May 2014.

He currently resides in Elkins.
