Ethel Andrews

Ethel Andrews passed away peacefully at her home in Buckhannon, West Virginia on Thursday, November 3, 2022.

A person of deep religious faith, Ethel was a longtime member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Alice Jane Creasman and husband Boyd Creasman of Emmitsburg, Maryland, and Andrea Jan Andrews of Buckhannon. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Catherine “Cathy” Lucarelli and husband Vince of Ellicott City, Maryland; Keylee Tacy and husband Josh of Morgantown, West Virginia; and Keyton Lanier of Buckhannon, as well as two great grandchildren, Eli and Mazie Lucarelli. She is also survived by two sisters, Bonnie Haymes of Jupiter, FL, and Peggy Hall of Buckhannon, as well as nephew Jay Hall and great nephew Matthew Hall of Turlock, California, and niece Kelly Hall of Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The family would like to thank Ethel’s amazing caregivers, Darlene Hornbeck and Donna White. In addition to her caregivers, Ethel was blessed with wonderful friends who visited her during her illness.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband John Enoch Andrews and her son, John Allen Andrews, as well as three sisters and one brother.

Ethel was born in Clay County, West Virginia, before moving to Buckhannon. She became a prominent businesswoman in Buckhannon, first as an owner of Self-Service Shoe Store and Riley Heights Fabrics. She later enjoyed a long and successful career as an award-winning real estate agent, taking great pleasure in serving the people of Upshur County, tirelessly working to match them with the right home.

Active in the local community, Ethel will be remembered as a kind and generous woman, who delivered food and gifts to friends and acquaintances in need. She enjoyed a long and healthy life and made a difference in the lives of so many loved ones who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Friends will be received Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 11 AM until 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Helen R. Oates officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
