Ernest Herman Langbein, Sr.

Ernest Herman Langbein, Sr., age 85, of Buckhannon, WV passed away at his home surrounded by his family shortly after 3 am on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

He was born December 4, 1938, in Germania Gardens, NJ, a son of the late Fredrick and Adeline Gale Langbein. On January 26, 1959, he married Beulah Ruth Devericks who preceded him in death on June 2, 2014. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Langbein; two sisters, Peggy Ireland and Patsy Thompson and close friends, Denny and Linda Whitaker.

He is survived by three sons, Ernest H. Langbein, Jr. and wife Diane of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Okey F. Langbein and close friend Dawn Alderman and Fredrick M. Langbein and fiancé, Marie A. Demus all of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Joshua Langbein of Buckhannon, Dale Langbein and Benjamin Langbein and girlfriend Sauna all of Egg Harbor Township; one granddaughter, Jessica Marie Langbein and significant other Kris Kliffmueller of Egg Harbor Township; nieces and nephews, Tammy, Vicky, Holly, Dory, Georgie, Debbie, Billy, Richie, Theresa, Bobby and several others; friend, Will Durham of Gibbstown, NJ and beloved dog, Sandy.

Mr. Langbein, Sr., was a U.S. Veteran who started his service in the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Boston and then retired from Air National Guard 177th. He was always very active in his community and was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge 598, Elks 1736, Eagles 4357 and VFW Post 3663, as well as serving as the Commander of the Devonshire, NJ VFW Post.

Ernest was the owner and operator of E & L Tree Service. In his spare time, he loved to shoot pool, play darts, shuffleboard, golf and side by side riding. Above all he was the rock of his family always showing love, kindness and understanding.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all those who have expressed their condolences. In honoring Mr. Langbein, Sr.’s wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
