Eloise Rager

Eloise Rager, 87, of Buckhannon, departed this life on Friday, May 1, 2026, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.

She was born in Fairmont on September 1, 1938, a daughter of the late Glenn Orville Goldsborough, Sr. and Margarette Edna Bragg Goldsborough. On February 26, 1967, Eloise married Perry Gene Rager, who preceded her in death on October 18, 2009. She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, and one brother, William “Bill” Goldsborough.

Eloise was a beacon of love and strength and will be remembered by four children: Roxanne Fury (David), of Broadway, VA; Cynthia Perrine (Steve), of Strasburg, VA; Joseph Rager and wife, Kelly, of Buckhannon; and Tony Rager and wife, Lisa, of Elkview, WV; twelve grandchildren: Billy Gidley, Robert Belinski, Jerry Belinski, Scott Fury and wife, Rhonda, Devon Perrine, Shane Perrine, Luke Rager (Eleni), Lance Rager (Daisia), Sarah Dague and husband Michael, Allison Rager (Taber), Kristen Rager, and Trevor Rager; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers: Glenn Goldsborough, Jr., Kenneth Goldsborough and wife, Mary, and David Goldsborough and wife, Norma; one sister, Linda Stemple; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thanks to her Pringle House apartment neighbors, Allen and Judy.

In her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Eloise dedicated herself to the welfare of others. She took immense pride in her work and was respected in her field. After retirement, she chose to continue her journey of caring by becoming an in-home caregiver, a testament to her selfless nature.

Outside of her professional life, Eloise was a woman of many passions, volunteering for several years while her kids were playing little league baseball. She loved being a granny, showering her grandchildren with love and wisdom. An ardent fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, she found joy and excitement in the thrills of the game. She was a lover of stories, whether they were woven into the pages of a book or unfolding on the screen in episodes of CSI and horror movies. Eloise also had a creative side, often found crocheting beautiful pieces. She enjoyed camping at Mogadore and Riffle Run. Much to the delight of those around her, she never said no to a piece of chocolate, especially Reese’s.
