Ella Margaret Moore

Ella Margaret Moore, of Buckhannon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Holbrooks Health Care in Buckhannon.

When the Lord called, she was ready, and at the age of ninety-one, she went home to be joyfully reunited with her husband and family members who went home before.

Margaret was born in Buckhannon, on June 13, 1934, a daughter of the late R. Huston Lewis and Ruby Lucinda Lewis.

On August 15, 1952, she married Verlin Lewis “Mike” Moore, and together they raised five children and celebrated over 51 years of marriage before his passing on December 16, 2003.

In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Thomas and Marie Lefever, as well as two brothers, Kelsel Lewis and James Allen Lewis. She was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Shelley Moore.

She is survived by three sisters: Mary Jean Brown, Gloria Sue Walters, and Lee Morris.

Forever cherishing memories of Margaret and her husband are their five children: Verlin Lee “Mikie” Moore [Pam], Barbara Jean Riffle [Woody], Donald Lewis Moore [Theresa], Michael DeWayne Moore [Michele Montalvo], and Robert Brian Moore [Melissa].

She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Katina Hartley [Jeremy], Jaime Layman, Angie Riffle, Josh Riffle [Danielle], Bobbie Riffle, Richard Moore, Magen Rutherford, Adam Moore [Deann], Andrew Moore [Carrie], Miranda Triplett [Brandon], Ashley Ours [Kevin], Hope McDaniels [Dillon], Courtney Moore; as well as her great-grandchildren: Evan Carpenter, Alex Layman [Natasha], Abigail Cunningham [Spencer], Brooklynne Riffle, Erica Rice, Blade Riffle, Sahara Green, Candace Lunsford, Union Rutherford, Ruehl Rutherford, Brody Tripplet, Brooks Tripplet, Branson Tripplet, Breckin Tripplet, Brynn Tripplet, Nakiah Green, Halie Green, Zoe Thomas, Noah Thomas, Brayden Moore, Avery Moore, Cora Moore, Koop Moore, Maverick Moore, Anna Ours, Alec Ours, Jaxzen Carr, Hunter McDaniels, Tanner McDaniels, and Landon McDaniels.

Her great-great-grandchildren include Autumn Carpenter, Kevin Layman, Aubrey Shaffer, Levi Layman, Noah Layman, Maeli Cunningham, Paxton Riffle, Amara Smith, and Raelynn Mae Smith [due to arrive in September].

If there was one thing radiant about Margaret, it was her unwavering devotion to the Lord, a shining testament to her unshakable faith as a Christian and dedicated member of the Reger United Methodist Church.

Margaret held various positions within the church and fulfilled numerous roles. She had a passion for teaching the children’s Sunday School class and her wonderful story-telling ability could keep them captivated for hours.

She had a true servant’s heart and was always willing to help in whatever way she could; always volunteering to assist with Bible School and church Christmas programs.

Her unwavering faith illuminated her path through countless challenges and inspired others within the church and community. Margaret’s enduring legacy of love and selfless devotion will forever inspire generations of church members, and her memory will eternally reside in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Friends will be received Friday, July 18, 2025, from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM with Pastor Spencer Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the Reger Cemetery in Teter, WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reger Cemetery in her memory c/o Michael Moore, 67 Boardwalk Road, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
