Ella Evastine Mackey

Ella Evastine Mackey, age 97, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, January 4, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born January 20, 1927, in Lewis County, WV, a daughter of the late Riley and Aulda Messenger Neal.

On August 8, 1947, she married Paul B. Mackey who preceded her in death on January 29, 2016. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Patty Ann Light and Jane Paulette Cox; two sisters, Agnes Woodson and Emma Radcliff and seven brothers, Charles, Raymond, Herley, Riley Jr., Leo, Lester, and Roy Neal.

She is survived by three granddaughters, Kathy Jo Hardman and husband James Brian of Ninety Six, SC, Melissa Kelley and husband Elmer of Tallmansville, WV, and Crystal Cochran and husband Brian of Kenna, WV; five great-grandsons, Joshua Kelley and wife Elizabeth of Horner, WV, Jacob Kelley of Tallmansville, and Austin, Brandon, and Carter Cochran all of Kenna; two great-granddaughters, Kristen Villarreal and husband Chris of Waterloo, SC and Jasmine Hardman of Greenwood, SC; one great-great granddaughter, Aleah Kelley of Tallmansville and two great-great grandsons Bryar Kelley of Tallmansville and Jonah Kelley of Horner.

Mrs. Mackey was a Sales Clerk at G.C. Murphy Company and attended North Buckhannon United Methodist Church. She loved to read and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Friends will be received Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating.
