Elkins Raceway hosts Wall of Legends ceremony, ten inductees honored

KERENS – Elkins Raceway recently hosted a moving ceremony to honor former drivers, car owners, track promoters, outstanding sponsors, among others who have made a major impact on the dirt track scene in north-central West Virginia and beyond.

Each inductee was awarded a plaque, commemorative image and a place on the Elkins Raceway Wall of Legends located at the rear of the grandstands.

Many of the family and friends of the newly inducted racing legends were moved by the ceremony, some with tears in their eyes.

There were ten 2023 Elkins Raceway Wall of Legends inductees:

  • Norman “Mac” McDougal – Car Owner, Track Promoter and Sponsor
  • Steve Booth – Driver
  • Harold Prunty – Crew Chief and Mechanic
  • Rick Hawkins – Driver and Car Owner
  • Jerry Haseleu – Driver, Car Owner and Chassis Builder

  • Danny Harris – Driver
  • John Cunningham – Driver
  • Rocky Hinzman – Outstanding Sponsor
