Eight Lady Bucs earn WVSLA All-State Lacrosse honors

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc lacrosse team had a dominating presence on the 2022 West Virginia Scholastic Lacrosse Association All-State Team that was recently announced.

Buckhannon-Upshur had a total of eight players land on the All-State team as three earned First Team honors, three were tabbed on the Second Team and two players was named to the Honorable Mention Team.

Earning First Team honors were Miranda Greene for attack, Hannah Walton for midfield and Gaidan Adams for defense.

Picking up Second Team honors were Kierra Arbogast for midfield, Kendall Defibaugh for midfield and Haylea Crihfield as goalie.

Named to the Honorable Mention Team were Mashae Bowser for defense and Kaylee Black for defense.

Greene ended her year leading the team in scoring with 97 goals to go along with 17 assists for 114 points.

She also collected 77 ground balls and forced 15 caused turnovers.

Walton tallied 45 goals and 12 assists for 57 points.

She collected 38 ground balls, won 41 draw controls, and forced three caused turnovers.

Adams had 12 goals and one assist for 13 points while collecting 89 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.

Arbogast scored 26 goals and had three assists for 29 points.

She won 137 draw controls, collected 35 ground balls and forced 12 caused turnovers.

Defibaugh put in 46 goals to go along with 10 assists for 56 points.

She won 32 draw controls, picked up 33 ground balls and forced six caused turnovers.

In the net, Crichfield logged 602 minutes in goal and faced 145 shots on goal saving 89 of them. She also posted three shutouts on the season.

Bowser collected 34 ground balls and forced three caused turnovers and Black gathered 56 ground balls and had 13 caused turnovers.

The Lady Bucs ended their year with a 17-2 record and were the state runner-ups this past season.
