Egress has 19 for JV Lady Bucs in 41-27 road loss to Hampshire

ROMNEY – Makenzie Egress scored a game-high 19 points, but it wasn’t enough to lead her Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs to their first victory after dropping a 41-27 road decision to the Hampshire Trojans Friday evening.

While Egress was scoring her 19 points, the rest of the Lady Bucs managed just eight points in the setback.

A basket and free throw from Egress and a free throw from Kylie Hull was all the offense for B-U in the opening quarter as the Lady Bucs trailed by a 12-4 score.

Egress had four points and Martina Moto had two for B-U in the second quarter which went to Hampshire by a 14-6 count.

That left the Lady Bucs down 26-10 at the half.

Hampshire edged the Lady Bucs by a 9-8 score in the third quarter as Egress had all eight points leaving them down by a 35-18 score going into the final quarter.

B-U won the last eight minutes by a 9-6 score with Egress getting four points, Gracie Gerwig and Taylor Feathers two each and Hull one.

Jocelyn Slonaker paced the Hampshire offense with 10 points.

The loss dropped the Lady Bucs to 0-4 on the season.

They will return to the court Thursday, Jan. 4 hosting North Marion at 5:45 p.m.
