Edna “Janie” DeMastes

Edna “Janie” DeMastes, 72, of French Creek, W.Va. died Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at her home.

She was born June 11, 1948, in Buckhannon, W.Va., a daughter of the late Harold David and Edna Mae Watson Kesling. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Scott Courtney.

Surviving are her husband, Richard DeMastes of French Creek; one daughter, Kate Stalnaker of French Creek; three sons, David Courtney and wife Loretta of Buckhannon, John DeMastes and wife Laurie of Front Royal, Va. and Bryan DeMastes and wife Shanna of Buckhannon; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Smith and husband Ralph of Buckhannon and Juliann Hagmaier and husband Chub of Pa. and two brothers, Joe Neal and wife Bonnie of Buckhannon and Danny Kesling and wife Patty of Pa.

Janie was a homemaker and also worked with special needs clients of Appalachian Mental Health of Upshur County. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Janie was loved by her clients and all who knew her.

Friends will be received Sunday, September 20, 2020 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Cemetery in Sago, W.Va.
