Dr. Elena Kwon

Dr. Elena Kwon appointed as Director of DMC and Broaddus Emergency Departments

Davis Medical Center announced the appointment of Dr. Elena Kwon as the new Director of the Davis Medical Center and Broaddus Hospital Emergency Departments, effective August 1, 2024. Dr. Kwon brings a wealth of experience as an emergency and trauma physician and medical director, making her an outstanding leader of the team.

Dr. Kwon earned her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. She also holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington, Seattle, and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She is board certified and holds certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS.

She served as the Deputy Biodefense Consultant to the U.S. Surgeon General and was Co-Chair of the Biodefense Committee of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Dr. Kwon has more than 16 years of experience in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Urgent Care Medicine, as well as 12 years of experience in Public Health and Occupational Medicine.

As the new ED Director, Dr. Kwon will oversee the delivery of high-quality emergency care services, ensuring that DHS hospitals meet the needs of the community with efficiency and compassion. She is dedicated to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for the medical staff and enhancing emergency care protocols. Dr. Kwon is relocating to Elkins and looks forward to becoming a new resident of the community.
