Donald Allen Bennett Sr.

Donald Allen Bennett Sr., age 77, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Louis A. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV.

He was born June 25, 1946, in Charleston, WV, a son of Mildred Jean Bennett. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents, the late F. Kee and Nora Elizabeth Bennett. 

On February 16, 2019, he married Judy Hamilton of Buckhannon. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kenneth Zickefoose and wife Trishaof Cadott, WI, Debbie Boese and husband Phil of Rock Springs, WY, Rocky Zickefoose and wife Debbie of Gordon, WV, Dena Jankowski and husband Thomas of Rock Springs,WY, Donald Allen Bennett, Jr., and wife Sherri of Philippi, WV and Donna Jean VanGrimbergen and husband Thom of Queens, WV; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Wojno and wife Rebecca and John Wojno and wife Jill all of Cincinnati, OH; one sister-in-law, Patti Wojno and his friends, John Musser, Scott Britt and Lawrence Wayne.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Wojno of Keller, TX. 

Donald served in the U.S. Army, was an oil & gas legend, and a master plumber. His military service and oil & gas career took him to over 20 foreign countries and all over the United States. Donald was instrumental in the construction of the Veteran’s Memorial Wall in Wilmington, NC. He was a member of the Franklin Loge #7 A.F. & A.M., Loyal Order of Moose, Elks Lodge No. 1736, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4357 and VFW Post 3663 all in Buckhannon as well as an active member of the Shriners.

In his spare time, he loved to play corn hole and ride his buggy. Known as the Mayor of the Middle Fork Campground, Donald never met a stranger and was a friend to all.

In honoring Donald’s wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
