BUCKHANNON – A home on Glady Fork Road was deemed a total loss after local fire departments fought to put out a fire at the structure for several hours Thursday.

Lieutenant John Brugnoli with the Buckhannon Fire Department said they responded at 9:31 a.m. to a fire at 5930 Glady Fork Road. Upon their arrival, the fire was fully involved.

“The fire was out by around noon,” Brugnoli said. “It was a pretty decent-sized house, like an old farmhouse. We don’t know the cause of the fire because there was too much damage — we’ll probably never actually know.”

The residents were not home and no one was injured. Brugnoli said the fire was not deemed suspicious.

A GoFundMe fundraiser organized by Betty Heater said the family of four who lives at the home lost everything.

“On January 5, 2023, life for the Rollins family changed forever,” Heater wrote. “They got a call no family wants to get. Their house had caught fire and was a total loss. This family of four lost everything a little over a week after Christmas!”

A separate Facebook post says the family is in need of various items of clothing. Click here to see that list.
