David Scott Bachman

David (AKA “Dave” or “Sally”) Scott Bachman, 63, of Summersville, quietly entered his last journey to join family who had gone before him on Thursday August 5, 2021. He passed extremely unexpectedly at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.

He was born in Buckhannon on November 2, 1957, a son of the late Randolph Leonard Bachman and Lenora Jane Tiffner Bachman. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Donald Kennedy; and his best friend and next-door-neighbor growing up, Owen Jones.

On February 6, 1981, Dave married the love of his life and best friend, Donna Ann Kennedy. They remained united in marriage as one for the last 40 years. They have shared all the joys of marriage and raising their two daughters. Donna loved Dave beyond words and will miss him beyond measure.

Forever cherishing their memories of Dave’s wise and supportive nature are his wife, Donna Bachman of Sumersville; two daughters: Danielle O’Dell and husband, Shawn, of Summersville, and Kara Bachman and companion, Jeffery Blackburn, of Rainelle; five grandchildren: Dakota Lough, Chesni Rose, Saven O’Dell, Brody O’Dell, and Piper O’Dell; three siblings: Martha Wooten and husband, Alvin, of Helvetia, Michael Bachman and wife, Judy, of Rock Cave, and Alan Bachman and wife, Mickey, of Las Vegas, NV; mother-in-law, Judy Kennedy; four sisters-in-law: Pam Collins and husband, Rob (his “little bald-headed buddy”), of Hacker Valley, Anita Collins and husband, Jeff, of Hacker Valley, Betty Jones of French Creek, and Kay Pyle and husband, David, of Greenfield, IN; one brother-in-law, Steven Kennedy of French Creek; several nieces and nephews; two special friends: Bobby Sams and Mark Carpenter; and countless friends and loved ones.

Dave attended Pickens High School and was eager to join the United States Army. He served his country proudly for three years before being discharged. The next 43+ years, Dave spent his days as a coal miner and was recently employed as a mine foreman at Civil Coal Company LLC. He was a member of Pickens Baptist Church and Pickens Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time, Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and shooting his bow in archery competitions. While he enjoyed his work and pastimes, he lived for his family. He treasured attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, gatherings on the family farm in Pickens, and rides in his side-by-side. Dave was an exemplary husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend and will be dearly missed.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 12-2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Funeral Services will begin at 2 p.m. in the Clutter Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Steve White officiating. Interment will follow at the Bachman Family Cemetery in Pickens with full military honors accorded by the Upshur County Honor Guard.

We, at Clutter Funeral and Cremation, appreciate the service of David (AKA “Dave” or “Sally”) and are honored and privileged to serve his family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ClutterFuneralHome.com.
