David Lee White

David Lee White, age 69, a resident of Buckhannon, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV with his family by his side following a brief illness.

He was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Clarksburg, West Virginia a son to the late George and Mildred “Ruth” White on October 26, 1955. Dave joined hands in marriage to the love of his life, Linda Sue Smithson, in 1989, after 11 years of dating.

Mr. White graduated from Philip Barbour High School in 1973. Dave was an avid sports fan and loved to cheer on the Steelers, the Penguins and the Pirates, as well as WVU. He spent his early years working at Kettering bakery. He went on to work in the coal, gas and oil industries as a surveyor and inspector. In his free time, he enjoyed being outside, hunting, fishing, working in the garden and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry White. He is survived by his wife, Linda Smithson White, of Buckhannon; four children: Maranda Collins (Adam) of Jeffersonville, KY; David White (JC) of Jamestown, ND, Josh White of Baltimore, MD and Christa White of Portland, OR, and three grandchildren: Braxton Collins, Adeline Duff and Colt White; brothers, Rick White (Connie) of Belington, and Richard White; sister, Amy Wilson of Elkins.

In honoring Dave’s wishes his remains will be cremated. A memorial service to honor his life is being planned for a later date.
