David Eugene Martin

David Eugene Martin, age 58, died Friday, November 1, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born on November 4, 1965, in Buckhannon, WV, a son of the late Eugene Payne “Newt” Martin and Martha Ellen Hovatter Martin.

He is survived by his wife Misty L. Knight Martin; one son Joshua Martin and wife Erica of Rock Cave; two stepsons: Cody Cain and wife Allesondria of Jane Lew and Gage Cain of Colorado; and Zachery Bender of Rock Cave, whom David thought of as another son; five grandchildren: Gage Cobb, Jaylynn and Jazzlynn Friend, Payden and Maddie Martin; a granddaughter on the way Eleanor Martin; two step grandchildren: Mya and Sylas Cain; one sister Sandra K. and husband Tim Fultz of French Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

Dave was a loving, kind-hearted, caring man and everyone who met him loved him. He loved and adored his wife and spending time with her; she was his world. Family was important to him and he loved them all deeply. He adored his son Josh, his sister Sandy, and his grandchildren; little Gage was the apple of his eye. He made many friends during his work life especially at Key Energy and Alcon Driving Company, including Steve Linger, a man Dave proudly called brother. He loved riding his motorcycle every chance he got and spending time outdoors.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Dennis Estes officiating. Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery at Kanawha Head. For those wishing to do so, donations may be made to the funeral chapel to assist the family with funeral expenses.
