Cynthia Kay Hunt, 66, of Crawford, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at WVU United Health Care Center in Bridgeport.

She was born in Annapolis, MD, on January 27, 1959, a daughter of Marjorie Esther Gates Scruggs who survives and the late Jesse Joseph Linwood Scruggs. On June 19, 1976, Cynthia married Cecil Page Hunt who preceded her in death on September 15, 2021.

Forever cherishing their memories of Cynthia with her mother, are two children: Rebecca Hunt-Ford and husband, Wayne, of Riner, VA, and Michael Hunt of Millersville, MD; six grandchildren: Randy, Michael, Justin, Stephanie, Lilly, and Henrietta; nine great-grandchildren: four sisters: Marjorie Morakkabi of CA, Betty Hogendorp and husband, Charlie, of WV, Jessica Seitz and husband, Richard, of MD, and Sandra Dove and husband, Ron, of MD; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cynthia attended Old Mill High School in MD. She was a trailblazer in her professional life. She was the first female in the state of Maryland to hold an HVAC license, leading her to establish her own successful business. Her tenacity and resilience, coupled with a profound understanding of hard work, made her an inspiration to many. However, her life was not all work and no play. Cynthia was a woman with diverse interests. She loved laser designing, a hobby that reflected her keen eye for detail and her inherent creativity. She also enjoyed traveling abroad and spending time at the beach, where she would often be found with a smile on her face and a sense of serenity in her heart. In addition to her professional achievements, Cynthia was an active member of the Heaston Ridge United Methodist Church, exemplifying a life of faith and service. She volunteered for the Upshur County Christmas store, bringing joy and warmth to those less fortunate during the holiday season. She was a licensed ham radio operator, a testament to her love for communication and connection. Her commitment to environmental causes saw her become a member of Save our Streams for several years.

Friends and family will gather for visitation at Heaston Ridge United Methodist Church located at 3020 Heaston Ridge Road in Crawford, WV, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
