Cross-country Lady Bucs take runner-up honors at Doddridge

WEST UNION – Samantha Shreve continued her strong freshman season with a fifth-place finish amongst 112 runners for 10th-ranked Buckhannon-Upshur in the Doddridge County Invitational Tuesday evening.

Shreve ran a time of 22:55.95.

Shreve’s finish helped the Lady Bucs to a runner-up finish as a team with 120 points.

Doddridge County won their own meet with 33 points while Braxton County was third with 138 points.

Doddridge County also took the top two spots in the race with Alexis Lamb winning the individual title with a time of 20:25.86 while teammate Katie Cottrill was second with a clocking of 21:27.78.

Lady Bucs scoring along with Shreve were Mia Sappey in 19th (22:55.95), Miah Reger in 23rd (24:34.38), Jessica Williams in 26th (24:41.72) and Alayna Whitehair in 56th (27:08.53).

The rest of the Lady Buc line-up was Malia Bowers in 59th (27:38.49), Pressley Bowers in 73rd (29:24.21), Brianna Dalton in 82nd (30:54.21), Harley Gillum in 89th (32:25.26), Haley White in 97th (35:21.41), Madelyn Frye in 103rd (37:10.21) and Ryanna Hines in 104th (38:30.43).
