Charolet Kay Peck

Charolet Kay Peck, “Mamma Peck,” age 74, of the Alexander Road, French Creek, died Friday, December 13, 2024, at her home.

She was born on April 26, 1950, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Oral F. and Gilsie Lura Russell Simmons. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Amos Barton Peck on March 2, 1983; two sisters: Anna Belle Lane and Wilma Jean Woody; and two brothers: George and Donald Simmons.

She is survived by one son Jerry Peck of Webster Springs; three daughters: Velda and husband Randal Booth of Pickens, Veronica Anderson of Rock Cave and Velenda and husband Phillip Holcomb of Buckhannon; six grandchildren: Brandon, Dylan, Kaleb, Abigail, Jada and Vanessa; one great granddaughter Emerie Kay; two sisters: Patricia and husband Doyle Gillum of French Creek and Mary Ann and husband Larry Coe of Buckhannon; and four-legged companions Buddy and Hope.

Known and loved by many as “Mamma Peck,” Charolet was a loving and caring mother to numerous family, friends and neighbors. She loved camping, gardening and birdwatching.

The family will receive friends at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM—the funeral hour, with Pastor Will Kerns officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the James W. Curry Library and Park, 1721 Brooks Hill Road, French Creek, WV 26218 or the Brooks Hill Community Building, 1760 Brooks Hill Road, French Creek, WV 26218.
