Catherine Sue Smith, age 65, of Buckhannon, died Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Holbrook Healthcare Center, where she’d been a resident for the past year.
She was born on April 17, 1958, a daughter of the late Forest Ralph and Desta Clementine Swisher Smith. She is survived by her three sisters: Helen L. Shields of Buckhannon, Wanda M. Strader of Ellamore, and Mary J. Sawyers and husband Steve of Buckhannon; two brothers: Donald R. Smith and wife Charlene of Weston and Harley D. Smith and wife Kimberly of Walkersville; nieces and nephews: Cindy Hamner, Bobby (Natalie) Smith, Kenneth (Renee) Shields, Bradley (Dana) Shields, Sandra (Tim) Bean, Scott (Stephanie) Strader, Glenda (Tracey) Riffle, and Tesla Smith; and many great nieces and nephews.
Cathy was a graduate of Lewis County High School and was an active member of the Straight Fork CEOS for many years. She dearly loved church activities and was active in both the Rock Cave Independent Baptist Church and the Liberty Baptist Church. She was an avid collector of cardinals and enjoyed working puzzles.
The family will receive friends at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Sunday, April 23, 2023, from 12-2:00 PM, the funeral hour, with Pastor David Jessie officiating. Interment will follow in the Post Chapel Cemetery.
