GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Carla Bowman, a senior art student at Glenville State University, will have a senior art show on display from March 14-25 in the Fine Arts Center Spears Gallery. A reception for the show is scheduled for Thursday, March 24 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Spears Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

Bowman’s show, entitled “Dreams and Nightmares,” includes different mediums, including oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, and print.

“There are many themes in my show,” Bowman explains. “There is the Phobia series in ceramics and watercolor. There is also the Brothers Grimm series in ceramics and photography. I also have a series called Shattered made in watercolor and ceramics.”

Bowman draws inspiration from the desire to see things that have been previously unimagined and as an emotional outlet.

“There are a couple of people I would like to thank, including my mom Linda Bowman. Even though she is not here anymore, she was always there for me, she was proud of me, and would tell me that I could make it better. And my best friend Zoe Yates because she has always pushed me to do my best,” Bowman added.

After graduation, Bowman plans to take a gap year before applying to the Master of Fine Arts program through the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning at the University of Cincinnati.

The Fine Arts Center Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and one hour before all GSU musical performances in the Fine Arts Center.
