BUCKHANNON – To celebrate and honor veterans this year, the Frank B. Bartlett American Legion Post 7, Buckhannon VFW Post 3663, and Upshur County Honor Guard will host a Veterans Program beginning at 11 a.m. on Veterans Day, November 11, 2020. The event will be live-streamed online and broadcast on Channel 3 local access television.
American Legion Post Adjutant, Mary Albaugh, explained that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, “We believe that holding a Veterans Day Parade would be unsafe for those who traditionally participate in the parade and the residents who attend as spectators.” However, the organizers still wish to commemorate the service of veterans of all wars and conflicts.
Thus, the local veterans organizations hope that residents will watch the event online or on television and take time to visit the Walk of Valor at Jawbone Park or the Veterans Memorial at Heavner Cemetery at a time of their choosing. If you visit the Walk of Valor at Jawbone Park or the Veterans Memorial at Heavner Cemetery, please practice social distancing and wear a mask if others are visiting the area at the same time.
To watch the program online, visit the Channel 3 Facebook page.
