This is an early-20th-century photo of the Buckhannon Chemical Plant located in Selbyville, Banks District. The plant produced charcoal, acetate of lime and wood alcohol from 1903 until the early 1930s. Today, this site is the location of the Upshur County Youth Camp. Oct. 3 deadline nears for SBA physical damage loans in Upshur County

West Virginia businesses, nonprofits, homeowners and renters affected by the July 21–22 storms have until Oct. 3 to apply for low-interest SBA physical damage loans. Eligible applicants can borrow for repairs, replacement and storm-mitigation upgrades.

Girl Scouts earn Silver Award with Charleston community picnic table project

Charleston Girl Scouts Morgan White and Laurel Schmalzer earned the Silver Award after spending 68 hours planning, funding and building community picnic tables. Their project received a $500 city grant and was completed in July 2026.
