West Virginia Wesleyan’s Nyah Elmer earned MEC Offensive Player of the Week after posting six goals and four assists in a 17-2 rout of Geneva. Frostburg State’s Liz Amos took Defensive honors with a career-high 14 saves in an 8-7 upset of No. 18 Seton Hill.
The Mountain East Conference named West Virginia Wesleyan’s Dominique Jansen van Vuuren the MEC Female Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Bobcats to a 6-1 win over Bloomsburg. The senior won No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-1 and teamed for a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.
West Virginia Wesleyan softball closed its Salem, Va., trip with two wins at the WVWC Tournament, surviving a wild 10–9 slugfest over Pitt-Johnstown before edging Indiana (Pa.) 3–2. Josi Fix earned the opener in relief, and Morgan Greene went the distance in the nightcap.
West Virginia lawmakers settled on a 5% personal income tax cut in the 2026 budget—about a $125 million hit to revenue—with most residents saving just $4 to $144 a year while the top 1% save about $2,300.
