Alex Fisher and Chace Wayne cracked the top 10 as Buckhannon-Upshur shot 177 to finish third at Barbour Country Club. Bridgeport swept the top three individual spots and won the four-team event with a 154.
West Virginia First Foundation welcomed board members Nick Fantasia and Rebecca Miller and named Camp Ezri its first RECAP recipient. The board also shared updates on grant reviews and a new dashboard tracking local opioid settlement spending.
West Virginia’s new WV VeriCheck system digitizes CPS and APS background checks, reducing delays, errors and manual work. The upgrade strengthens safeguards for children and vulnerable adults while saving an estimated $25,196 annually.

Upshur County marks National CERT Week, Sept. 20-26, and 40 years of volunteers strengthening disaster readiness. Residents are encouraged to learn preparedness skills and join CERT to help support emergency responders and build safer neighborhoods.
