On Monday, Mayor Robbie Skinner issued a proclamation recognizing National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week in Buckhannon to highlight the contributions of WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and its staff.
Skinner welcomed Skip Gjolberg, President & CEO of WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital, and several other hospital representatives to City Hall for the ceremony.
The proclamation highlighted the themes “The Power of Nurses” for National Nurses Week and “Celebrate Hospitals for Providing Healing, Health, and Hope” for National Hospital Week.
The full text of the proclamation follows:
Whereas, the City of Buckhannon is pleased to salute WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital as it celebrates National Nurses’ Week and National Hospital Week.
Whereas, National Nurses’ Week is May 6th to 12th and National Hospital Week is May 11th to 17th. The Theme of National Nurses’ Week is “The Power of Nurses” and the theme of National Hospital Week is “We Celebrating Hospitals for Providing Healing, Health and Hope” and will be celebrated across the country.
Whereas, WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is staffed by professionals with caring hearts and giving spirits who are inspired by the love of Christ to provide our community with quality health care in ways which respect the God-given dignity of each person and the sacredness of human life.
Whereas, the hard-working staff of WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital deserves universal regard and appreciation for keeping our community healthy.
Be it known that on this 12th day of May, 2025, I, Robert Neal Skinner, III, Mayor of the City of Buckhannon do hereby declare May 6th to the 17th of 2025, to be National Nurses’ Week and National Hospital Week in Buckhannon, West Virginia, and urge residents to express their appreciation for St. Joseph’s Hospital and its staff who make trustworthy, quality healthcare possible in our community.
