More than 1,000 West Virginia youths — over half middle schoolers — connected with WVU this spring through Extension-led school visits, campus tours, immersion experiences and statewide events across 40+ counties.

The 2026 West Virginia Largest Yard Sale returns Aug. 7-8, with more sellers expected and new participation in Webster County. Registration is open through July 26, and a digital-only map goes live July 31 to help shoppers plan their routes.

Stonewall Resort’s Independence Day Weekend Celebration returns July 3–5, 2026, honoring America’s 250th birthday with live music, family fun and a signature fireworks show over Stonewall Jackson Lake on July 4.

WVDOH crews are digging out and rebuilding washed-out roads and bridges after late June floods, including major damage on James Branch Road near Wharton in Boone County.

WVDEP and WVDOH will honor Adopt-A-Highway volunteers at a daylong appreciation event August 1, 2026, at Lakeview Golf Resort in Morgantown, with lunch, activities, awards and a Volunteer of the Year announcement. Register by July 10.
