Buccaneer basketball team remains ranked eighth in latest WVSACA poll

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers remained eighth this week in the recent week seven WVSACA Basketball poll in Class AAAA.

Despite a 0-2 record against ranked teams last week (University and East Fairmont) the Bucs (8-5) remained in the same spot. All five of B-U’s losses have come to teams ranked in the Top 10 in Class AAAA or Class AAA.

Because of the weather, the Bucs don’t have any games this week. Their Wednesday outing with Fairmont Senior has been postponed and has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 2.

Morgantown is ranked first in Class AAAA while Spring Mills is second despite the two teams splitting the first-place votes. Third place George Washington received the other first round vote.

Capital is ranked first in Class AAA, Wheeling Central is first in Class AA and Tug Valley is first in Class A.
