Bonita Lea Huffman Wilfong Nantz

Bonita Lea Huffman Wilfong Nantz, 83, of Sago Road, Buckhannon, died Thursday, April 2, 2020, at Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon. 

She was born on October 18, 1936, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Elbert Lee and Beatrice Merle Tenney Huffman. 

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Nantz; one son Mark Wilfong of Jefferson City, Mo.; one stepson, Lowell Nantz; one granddaughter, Andrea Nicole Wilfong; four brothers:  Benjamin Huffman of Buckhannon, Brian Huffman and wife Joann of French Creek, Bailey Huffman of Buckhannon, and Berlin Huffman and wife Carolyn of Buckhannon; one sister Berta M. Thompson of Buckhannon; and nieces and nephews: Brett, Ryan, Brianna, and Rhonda Huffman, Charles McCartney, Adrian McCartney, Dwales Bennett, Mata Bond, and Judith Sipe. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one stepson, Glenn Nantz; two brothers: Bobby and Bernard Huffman; two half-sisters:  Nellie Bennett and Viola Huffman; two brothers-in-law:  Charles McCartney and Roger Thompson; and nieces and nephews:  Karen Ann Phipps, Timothy Huffman, and David McCartney.

Mrs. Nantz was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, and received her undergraduate degree at West Virginia Wesleyan College and her Master’s Degree from the University of Kentucky. 

Many former students and coworkers will remember her long career as an educator in Upshur County. She was a lifelong church member, a member of the Upshur County Right to Life, a talented seamstress, and a lover of marigolds. 

A private graveside service was held at Big Bend Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Upshur County Right to Life, care of Berta Thompson, 200 Gawthrop Road, Buckhannon, WV 26201. 

Online condolences may be extended to the family at www.heavnerandcutright.com. The family entrusted the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel with the arrangements.
