Bobcat spotlight: Scenes from 2022 Founder’s Day at West Virginia Wesleyan College

BUCKHANNON — Below are a few scenes from West Virginia Wesleyan College’s traditional Founders Day Convocation, which took place Friday, Sept. 30 during the college’s 2022 Homecoming celebration.

West Virginia Wesleyan College interim president Dr. James Moore embraces 2022 Rhododendron Award recipient Bob Skinner during the presentation of distinguished alumni awards. According to the college’s website, the award recognizes West Virginians who have brought distinction and honor to their state or who have undertaken exemplary acts of leadership on behalf of the College. The Rhododendron Award has only been given 15 times in its 55-year history.

2022 Homecoming took place Friday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Oct. 2, a weekend during which alumni are invited to return to their ‘Home Among the Hills.’

During the Founder’s Day Convocation, five new Board of Trustees members were introduced; four individuals were honored with distinguished alumni awards; and Dr. Melanie Sal was honored with an excellence in teaching awards.

The Hon. John F. McCuskey ’69, Hon. ‘22 delivered the Founder’s Day address, and Retired Vice President of Advancement Bob Skinner ’75, in addition Jack ‘59 and Mary Ann ’60 Fraser were honored for their service to the College.

School bus crashes on Route 20 after hitting black ice; one child taken to hospital
