Betty Jo Bond Jeffries Elmer

Betty Jo Bond Jeffries Elmer, age 81, of the Cow Run Road, Rock Cave, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.  

She was born on September 11, 1941, at home in North Buckhannon, Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Delbert Burl and Earnestine Smith Bond.  In 1959, she married Earl Jeffries who preceded her in death.  After his death, she married William (Bill) Elmer in 1980.  

In addition to her second husband, she is also survived by two daughters:  Sandra Walters and Tammy Loudin; two chosen daughters:  Debra Cox and Donna Walton; six grandchildren:  Brian, Jared, and Nathaniel Loudin, Cheyenne Troxell, Sierra Starkey, and Derek Tinney; 12 great grandchildren and one on the way; siblings:  Lavern Shiflett, Lorraine Lowery, Kaye McIe, Linda Chidester, David Bond, Tom Bond, and Bonnie Cutright; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers:  Burl Jr. Bond and James Michael Bond; and two sisters:  JoAnn Bond and Helen Bailey.

Betty was an active member of the Buckhannon Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoyed volunteering in all types of community service.  She dearly loved her family, especially babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Buckhannon Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM—the funeral hour, with Pastors Daniel Venegas and Rick Cutright officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hampton Cemetery.
