Bentley again named Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — West Virginia Wesleyan’s Matthew Bentley is the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Charleston’s Leon Kroiss is the league’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Bentley, a junior from London, England, netted a hat trick in each of West Virginia Wesleyan’s games last week as the Bobcats closed the regular season with a pair of victories. He put three in the back of the net in a non-conference win over Seton Hill, and then repeated the feat against Shepherd. He scored 10 goals in the final there games of the year and finished with 14.

De Angelis, a junior from Parma, Italy, led Notre Dame to a 2-0-0. He made three saves in a shutout win over Wheeling Jesuit, and then stopped a pair of shots as the Falcons edged Urbana, 2-1, in overtime in the regular season finale.

Offense: Gabriel Cabral (UC) had goals in both games for the Golden Eagles last week … Martin Minuzzi (WJU) had the game-deciding goal on a PK against West Liberty … Zach Poff (UU) provided the game-winning goal against Concord … Guilherme Gloria Albuquerque (NDC) had a goal in each of NDC’s wins last week.
Defense: Leon Kroiss (UC) had a goal and helped Charleston post a pair of shutouts last week from his spot on the backline … Jakob Henricksen (UU) had 10 saves in two games … ALec Yost (CU) had his first career goal against Urbana.
