Basketball ‘Cats tumble to Concord, 89-67

ATHENS, W.Va. — West Virginia Wesleyan College men’s basketball team dropped an 89–67 decision on the road to Concord University Wednesday night at the Carter Center, as the Mountain Lions pulled away early and never trailed.

The Bobcats kept pace in spurts but faced a 50–32 deficit at the break after Concord shot 44.4 percent from the field in the opening half and converted 13-of-14 at the free-throw line. The Mountain Lions finished the night at 47.0 percent overall, outrebounded Wesleyan 48–34, and held a 10–4 edge from three-point range.

After Concord pushed the margin to 21 early in the second half, Wesleyan responded with a brief surge. Back-to-back baskets from Litton and Westfall trimmed the deficit, and the Bobcats continued to attack the paint, finishing with 40 points inside and 11 fast-break points. However, Concord answered each run, stretching the lead to as many as 29 midway through the half.

Isaiah Baker led the Bobcats with a game-high 17 points, going 6-of-14 from the floor and 5-of-6 at the stripe. Curtis Litton and Jaden Westfall added 10 points apiece, while Adrijus Janciauskas chipped in nine points off the bench. Tristin Harkins impacted the game beyond the scoring column with five rebounds, three assists, and four steals as Wesleyan generated 11 assists and forced nine turnovers.

Boubacar Djigo paced Concord with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Savier McCall added 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting. The Mountain Lions also received balanced contributions across the lineup, finishing with 26 bench points.

Wesleyan hosts Glenville State University on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m.
