Barbour Community Health Association promotes Sonja Mitchell to radiology director

Barbour Community Health Association (BCHA) is proud to announce the promotion of Sonja Mitchell to radiology director, according to a press release from the organization.

In this expanded leadership role, Mitchell will oversee all radiology operations across BCHA’s network of clinics throughout Barbour County, ensuring patients have access to high-quality, low-dose and cost-efficient digital imaging close to home.

Mitchell’s promotion recognizes her outstanding contributions to patient care and her dedication to making healthcare more accessible to all residents. Radiology plays a vital role in diagnosing and guiding treatment, and under her leadership, the department will continue expanding access to imaging while maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency and patient comfort.

“Sonja has shown exceptional leadership, dedication, and care throughout her time with Barbour Community Health Association,” said Eric Ruf, chief executive officer. “This promotion is a testament not only to her skill, but also to the trust she has earned from both patients and colleagues. She absolutely embodies our core values of compassion, quality, and community, and we are excited to see her continue to grow with the organization as she guides our radiology services into the future.”

For Mitchell, the promotion represents both a professional milestone and a personal calling.

“Stepping into the role of radiology director gives me the privilege to advance my career while providing a beneficial service to my community,” she said. “I’m excited to lead a team that is committed to making imaging efficient, accessible, and patient-focused.”

With many years of combined experience, BCHA’s radiology team continues to build on its strong foundation of patient-focused service. Mitchell is especially passionate about supporting her team’s ongoing professional development through continuing education and conference opportunities, ensuring BCHA’s radiology department keeps pace with advancing diagnostic technology.
