B-U’s Calef-Boring to play in North-South All-Star baseball games

TENNERTON – Buckhannon-Upshur senior Zach Calef-Boring has been chosen to play in the 2023 North-South All-Star baseball games.

Calef-Boring will play for the North in a doubleheader on Sunday starting at noon at George Washington High School.

Calef-Boring led the Bucs in both hitting and pitching this past season.

At the plate, he led the team with a .433 average getting 39 hits in 110 at-bats with eight doubles, two triples and two home runs.

He scored a team best 40 runs while knocking in 28 from his lead-off spot in the order.

On the mound, he posted an impressive 2.29 earned-run-average with a 2-1 record. He threw a team-high 45 2/3 innings striking out 45.

Nine Big 10 Conference members will join Calef-Boring on the North roster as he will be joined by Lewis County’s Zach James and Grant Mealey, East Fairmont’s Carter Brown and Conner Tingler, Elkins’ Cameron Biller, Bridgeport’s Andrew Bell, Lincoln’s Lance Hostutler, Grafton’s Ben Louzy and Robert C. Byrd’s Brayden Thomason.

Both games of the doubleheader will be seven innings.
